Cabot is governed by a Mayor and eight City Council members, two representing each ward. The Mayor serves a four-year term and is elected at the same time as the Governor. The Council serves two year terms. The Mayor oversees city departments. The City Attorney and City Clerk-Treasurer are also elected and serve four year terms. The District Court Judge is elected and serves a six year term.
