Banned Animals Within Cabot City Limits

These animals cannot be owned or harbored in any way within Cabot City Limits:

  • Any warm-blooded, carnivorous or omnivorous, wild or exotic animal (including but not limited to primates, skunks, foxes and wild exotic cats; but excluding fowl, ferrets and small rodents).
  • Any animal that has a poisonous bite.
  • Any animal that exhibits fierce of vicious behavior or that has attacked a person or animal with such severity as to cause physical injury or property damage.  However, the fact that an animal has attempted to bit a person when that person provoked or teased it shall not constitute the animal's being a vicious animal.
  • Any "Pit Bull" dog - "Pit Bull" dog is defined to mean:
    • The Bull Terrier breed
    • The Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed
    • The American Pit Bull Terrier breed
    • The American Staffordshire Terrier breed
    • Dogs of mixed breed containing one of the aforementioned breeds
    • Any dog that has the appearance and characteristics of predominantly of the aforementioned breeds
  • Keeping of Horses or Cows
    • No person, household, or residence, shall keep any horse or cow except in an enclosed pasture containing a minimum of one acre per horse or cow.  Horses or cows are not allowed to run loose in the city.
  • Keeping of Hogs, Goats, or Sheep
    • No person, household, or residence, shall possess, maintain or keep any hogs, goats, or sheep within the corporate city limits or to permit any hogs, goats or sheep to run at large within the City limits; except hogs, goats, and sheep in transit
  • Keeping of Fowl
    • No person shall own chickens, guineas, ducks, geese, or other fowl in a residential district (as defined in the City of Cabot, Arkansas Zoning Code) with the exception that the lot size is one acre or more.  This does not include migratory species.
