If the City of Cabot and / or Lonoke County is not under a burn ban and you would like to have an open burn (natural vegetation only), please use the following checklist as your guidance in the City of Cabot.
Prior to any open outdoor burning, you must notify the Cabot Police Dispatch Center at 501-843-6526. You must give your name, address of burning and your phone number.
Rules for Open Outdoor Burning
Do not start an open burn when wind speed is greater than 10 mph or humidity is less than 30%.
Burning must be done at least 50 feet from any structure. However, an open fire may be maintained a minimum of 25 feet from a structure if the pile is less than 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet in height.
Do not burn under overhead utility lines.
Only natural vegetation (small tree limbs, leaves, or garden waste) may be burned.
The fire must be attended at all times until all embers are fully extinguished.
Rakes and a water source sufficient to extinguish the fire must be available in the immediate area of the burn.
Ceremonial fire must be no larger than 5 feet by 5 feet and 5 feet in height.
The fire must not cause heavy smoke, odor, or a hazardous condition.
