Brief History

The Cabot Police Department is equipped with the E911 (enhanced) system that provides its citizens with the ability to just dial 911 in the event of an emergency. E911 allows emergency services to receive the caller's name, phone number and address so that the caller can be located by address in the event the call is interrupted.

New Equipment

Before the E911 system was installed, whenever a person had an emergency they had to call the police department's seven digit number.

The Cabot Police Department received this equipment in September of 1994 and it has been in use ever since.

Phase Two

In the fall of 2003 the police department received phase two of the 911 system which gave an approximate location of a person calling from a cell phone that was equipped with an updated chip.
